What’s been happening:

Rick McElvaney is a Clinical Associate Professor, Program Director of the Center for Consumer Law, and supervisor of the Consumer Law Clinic at the University of Houston Law Center. He also teaches Landlord and Tenant law, Texas Procedure, and Law Practice Strategies. He received a B.S. in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University in 1982 and a J.D from the University of Houston Law Center in 1986, where he was an associate editor of the Houston Journal of International Law. He is licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas, the U.S. District Court Southern District of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeal Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court, and is board certified in Consumer and Commercial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He practiced as a legal aid attorney for 20 years in the areas of housing, consumer, and bankruptcy law. Presently, he serves as the Immediate Past Chair of the State Bar of Texas, Consumer & Commercial Law Section. He was voted the 2008 - 2009 Professor of the Year at the University of Houston Law Center by The Order of the Barons, an honors organization for students ranked in the top 15% of their class.
